The Anatomy of Financial Repression and Fiscal Dominance
The Interdisciplinary Center for Economic Sciences (ICES) is pleased to announce a panel discussion featuring David Dredge, founder and CIO of Convex Strategies, on the forces reshaping the global financial system.
Dredge argues that financial repression and fiscal dominance are not merely risks on the horizon, but mechanisms that have already played a central role in the modern financial system.
Joined by scholars from George Mason University and moderated by Professor Daniel Houser, Dredge will discuss how decades of low interest rates, regulatory incentives, central bank intervention, and institutional demand for government debt have enabled governments to finance growing fiscal burdens while keeping the cost of capital artificially low.
As demographics shift, debt levels rise, and traditional sources of savings come under pressure, a fundamental question emerges: who will own the debt, and at what price? The panel will examine the implications for bonds, currencies, inflation, and the future structure of global financial markets.
Please join us for this panel discussion and light refreshments.
